dreaming big

i just descovered a really fun website (for me atleast) from weather.com of all places! it was a link when i was checking the weather - who knew? anyway, if you all enjoy looking at floorplans you may enjoy this too. it's nick and i's dream to one day own a loft so i prefer looking at these over houses. the best part is they are in minneapolis so it made it seem a little more realistic than looking at ones far away. i mean, i've actually seen these places before! :) have a look if you like. just click on one of the properties and then on the pricing or flooplan tab - warning you may get addicted. enjoy! masterproperties

the exciting working world

this makes week two at banana republic and i'm getting back into the swing of things. my feet have mostly needed the adjustment. the past few years i haven't had a job where i was constantly on my feet. i definitely enjoy being downtown again. i get a good walk in twice a day (although the humidity and heat have been horrible) and i love the hustle and bustle of the business folks. yesterday was quite exciting...early on in my shift i had a cross dresser come through the women's section and then later in the afternoon celine dion came through!!! that's the first celebrity i've ever seen in my life in real person. her hair was cut really short and i had to keep looking to believe it was her. she no makeup on at all. i was anxiously waiting for her to pick something up so i had a reason to talk to her (we always ask to start a fitting room for the customers) but she never did - just looked. i didn't wanna be weird so i didn't approach her - figured she wanted to have a semi normal visit to the store. but i saw her! woo! that was good enough for me.

Our wedding
Posted by Hello

oh how i love internet!

finally we have our internet hook up in our apartment so these updates will be more regular. and i can let you all see a few pictures :) i'm so glad i can wake up and check the weather now - what a silly thing to get excited over. like i mentioned before, this weekend was patty's wedding. we made the 7 hr trip down for a one day stay, but it was totally worth it to see and support her and dan. i had the best time dancing with dan's family members - most of them children under the age of 10, but boy where they cute! and then because i had been paying so much attention to them they wouldn't let me not look at them later. i told nick i hope our kids are that into dancing when they are young. hopefully they get my rhythm and not his :) good news for the job situation...i have gone back to banana republic (my first job in the city) for part time work. i'm also picking up a few shifts every now and then in the student life office where i worked during the school year. so it helps us to be able to save money instead of only paying bills. we have quite the bill to pay for our wedding! that's it for now - these will be much shorter now with being able to write more frequently.

a few more days

just a few more days without internet - who knew i depended on it so much? i'm lucky to have access to the school still and to my air conditioned office where i can go for a few hours at night to look up all the things i've been thinking about all day. see before when i thought of something i could just run to the internet and find out about it. i've had to store up my thoughts and ideas and remember them for my daily internet trip. of course i didn't write them down... :) since we finally have a monitor that shows the correct colors, we can stand to look at the screen now. which means a few pictures will be on here once everything is hooked up. this afternoon nick and i head out for kansas city to attend patty's wedding tomorrow. i'm looking forward to seeing some folks from evangel i haven't seen since my last visit almost four years ago. it was great to have a few of them come up for my wedding and it was funny how i had expected them to still look the same. i mean none of them had really changed all that much - mostly just new hair, but after looking at pictures of them the same way for so long in my head they still were going to be the same. speaking of pictures, we meet with our photographer next week and will have those online pretty soon :) oh i can't wait!

back from the honeymoon

I'm still alive, don't panic (not that any of you were). things got super crazy with moving, getting married and all. and nick and i don't have internet in our apartment yet so that's why i haven't been updating this thing. now that i think about it, unless you have this saved in your favorites, you can't even get to it b/c i'm not on aol. hmmm.... well for those of you who can read it, and the others who will have to wait until later: let me fill you in. the wedding was perfect! it was better than i could have imagined it and everything went smoothly. well a groomsman forgot is tie, but that didn't cause too much damage since he just drove back to get it. the weather was beautiful. it had rained everyday at some point the entire month, but our day was precipitation free! it was overcast for the pictures (which makes them turn out better) and then sunny for the cermony and mini golf after. the reception was beautiful, delicious and fun. i'm so glad we had dancing - it finished off the night just right. the honeymoon to barbados was perfect too. it was so relaxing to spend the week on the beach and by the pool. the hotel was on a remote side of the island and we didn't really leave it much. we did do a night show where i got to dance on stage with a calypso dancer and then we did a sailboat cruise. for that one we snorkeld with turtles and over a coral reef. the six days flew by! now we are back in minneapolis and putting our apartment in order. we got just about everything we needed from the wedding and picked up a few more necessities like a vacuum cleaner :) nick and i are both still searching for jobs. he needs a grown up job/career, i just need to be employed for the summer! keep us in your prayers and we continue our search - we are both becoming discouraged. nick may stay at the hotel and be the head concierge make much more and have day time shifts - we're trying to decide if it the right move. that about sums up life for now - i'll write again soon and we should have internet in a few weeks.
